The ECWS has been active since the 1970s during which time it has gained respect
as a serious and competent history re-enactment group. Its authentic
re-creations of seventeenth century life are conducted by staging events at
venues throughout the country, each event being scaled to suit the nature of the
venue and the circumstances.
